Kolkata's iconic tramways turns 150 and to celebrate the momentous occasion a tram parade with some of the oldest tramcars was organised on Sunday in the city of joy. Trams in Kolkata are dying, and activists say there is a need to reconsider the government's decision to go down the heritage route and present trams as a viable, eco-friendly mode of public transport by investing in rolling stock and reviving old routes.
